shift happens

Today, we welcomed 8 students into our church and celebrated with 3 that decided to be baptized. What an amazing morning.

It was a morning when I was once again reminded that a shift is happening in our community as we learn to value, care about and love those who are different from us (in this case younger than us). One of the quotes shared this morning was by Chap Clark from his book Hurt, “The fact is that adolescents need adults to become adults, and when adults are not present and involved in their lives, they are forced to figure out how to survive life on their own.” We are a community that is dreaming about being present with students but it is also becoming reality.

After many years of hard work and toil in the soil of our church, I can begin to see small buds of plants growing up. It is good to remember how long it takes for buds to come up through the soil and how much goes on underneath the soil to see shift happen.

I wish I had a video to post but not today. Maybe later.
